After inviting everyone to prom last season, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell kicked off their dancing shoes to cozy things up for fall. The third New York Fashion Week collection for their genderless brand riffed on another childhood right of passage — the slumber party — with a video release imagining what looks a gaggle of Gen Zers would don if left alone at granny’s house for a night.

It was all about the Spring Fling at Tanner Fletcher earlier this week, when the label showed its new collection at a prom-themed presentation in the West Village. The space was decorated with vignettes showcasing a progression of what would take place during an idyllic prom night: getting ready, posing for pictures, a bit of dancing, a bit of punch, and some postparty sleepovers.

It was a break, not a breakup. But the way the screaming, flailing fans — ranging from teens to those teetering on the brink of middle age — at New York’s sold-out Beacon Theatre are reacting to frontwoman Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro ripping through their spiky new single, “This Is Why,” you’d think Paramore had just risen from the dead.

Since then, we wanted to meet the duo bringing a modern lens to past eras of interior design and fashion to form a type of style that is more suited for the twenty-first century. We caught up with them during Paris Fashion Week and got to see their FW22 collection up close. Just as they prescribed, it was an ongoing evolution of individuals’ style.

Another example of a brand that seems to understand this is Tanner Fletcher, an emerging genderless fashion label that recently showcased its Fall 2022 collection at NYFW. “We don’t think non-binary folks are looking for this crazy new type of non-binary fashion,” designers Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell, told Refinery29. “We think non-binary folks just want the freedom to see something they like regardless of how they identify, grab it off the rack, and be authentically themselves without unnecessary labels and the judgment that comes with them.”
